Leonardo and Avinash: The Butterfly Effect for good

When Karan watched Leonardo DiCaprio's documentary ‘Before the Flood’ and a Marathi lecture on the Environment by Dr. Avinash Dharmadhikari, he was kind of frustrated by thinking about where we are heading. The disastrous consequences of our so-called growth have called for a demon called Global Warming; now enraged to Global Boiling.

Engineering years were when the co-founders met each other. They worked on different projects from 2014-2018. From launching Experimental rockets, Balloon Satellites to organising world’s first Marathi language TEDx event, their friendship grew. Everyone of them wanted to pursue Entrepreneurship while also willing to do something good for the society.

That’s when they found out something called Biodegradable Plastics. It fascinated them (although later they found out that it was actually Oxo-Biodegradable!). Initially they thought to import it in India and sell it here. But it added no value!

Then started a long journey. In July 2018, they started reading research papers, consulting with scientists, trips to CIPET for trials and much more. In February 2019, first successful trial on Thermoplastic Starch was performed. It marked a journey with a new hope and will to commercialise the product.

Since then, TGP has been working to commercialise different variants of Compostable Plastics for packaging, Hygiene and other use cases. We are enabling people to eliminate their pollution by replacing conventional plastics with sustainable materials. Our journey is reflection of our thoughts.
